Currently, St. Mary's is running our pilot year of this unique catechetical (faith formation) program for 3-6 year olds and we're having a great time. CGS is a program that was started in Italy and has become a practice taken up throughout the world to help improve the catechesis that we offer to our young kids and to help them build on the personal relationship with God that they already have.
Often times children, though they do not know the "stuff" of our faith (facts, figures, ideas, etc.), are the ones who see God's movement in our world most clearly, and CGS is a program that uses what we know about stages of development to help children learn the practices necessary (like being still/quiet, self-control, and care for others) to pray well and carry with them that ability to see and hear God as they grow up. Our program is steeped in both scripture and the traditions of our Catholic faith and helps children to become familiar with the types of things they'll see and hear in the mass so that their time in the church is more fruitful for them (and you!).
This year, our pilot program met on Wednesday mornings from 10:00-11:15. If Wednesday morning doesn't work for you--not to worry! We're hoping to adjust our meeting times for the 2020-2021 school year to meet the needs of interested parents.
