K-5 Volunteers

• Be a practicing Catholic, confirmed in the faith
• Have the desire to grow in a relationship with Jesus Christ through prayer and weekly lesson preparation and have the desire to share that love of Jesus with the students
• Attend a minimum of  two skills-training workshops per year
• Be present for all classes, or notify the CCE office in advance of absences whenever possible

• Be in seventh grade or older. 
• If over the age of 18, complete the Archdiocesan Safe Environment training and submit to a criminal background check.
• Be present for all classes, or notify the primary catechist in advance of absences when possible
• Assist the catechist with lessons, planned activities, and classroom discipline

• Be in seventh grade or older. 
• Be present for one session per week, or notify the Director in advance of absences when possible
• Assist with posting attendance, copying, distributing materials, filing, occasionally assisting in classrooms when extra hands are needed, etc.
• If not available during class time, help is also appreciated before class to open classrooms – OR – after class to close up classrooms.

• Be 18 years or older. 
• Work directly with the director for event planning, inventory, volunteer requisitions, etc.
• Be present one day per week, or notify the director in advance of absences when possible

• Monitor traffic into and out of the building before, during and after class. 
• Be aware of persons not affiliated with Elementary Faith Formation and determine their purpose in the building. 
• Assist parishioners with directions as needed.
• Alert the director immediately if any suspicious or dangerous activity occurs.
• After everyone is safely in the building, monitor hallways.   Report any unusual activity to the director.

• First Reconciliation
  • Be present for weekly parent /child sessions (late January to early March)
  • Assist with set up, check-in, and clean up
  • Help the director facilitate the parent /child sessions
  • Assist with First Reconciliation Liturgy
• First Eucharist
  • Be present for weekly parent /child sessions (March to early May)
  • Assist with set up, check-in and clean up
  • Help the director facilitate the parent /child sessions
  • Assist with First Eucharist Masses

Opportunities to serve (3RD OR 4TH WEEK OF JUNE)

• Assist with decoration and set up the week prior to VBS (optional)
• Assist in activity centers the week of VBS
• Lead groups of children through the daily activity centers the week of VBS
• Assist with clean up after VBS

(2nd Sunday in October)

Opportunities to assist in the Elementary “Inflatables” Booth 
 

• The day prior to the bazaar, help set up tents, tables, and chairs  
• Staff an inflatable for a 2-hour block of time during the bazaar
• Monitor volunteers and keep them hydrated (water provided)
• After the bazaar, assist with clean-up, taking down tents, etc.
