Each fall, Elementary Faith Formation prepares a list of students (K-5) who may be ready for sacrament preparation in the spring. To be eligible, a child should
1) be in second grade or older
2) be baptized in the Catholic faith
3) attend Mass regularly
4) have completed the previous year in faith formation* with at least 70% attendance (CCE, Catholic School, or a USCCB-approved home-based catechetical program)
4) be currently participating in grade-level, Catholic faith formation.
In early December, a letter of invitation will be sent to parents to register**. Return the registration form and either a baptismal certificate from the church of baptism issued within the last six months or the date of the baptism celebrated at St. Mary of the Expectation. Classes are weekly on Thursday 6:00 p.m. or Sunday 2:00 p.m., January-April, excluding holidays, and are in addition to the child’s regular religion classes.
* NOTE: Absences in 2020-2021 due to COVID will be taken into consideration
** Parishioners who are not attending St. Mary Catholic School or Faith Formation classes must contact the parish office to request the letter of invitation.
